Show us Where You Live Friday – Playroom
It is almost Friday so it is time to play along with Kelly from Kelly’s Korner. This week it is playrooms, laundry rooms or bonus rooms. I am showing you our stable playroom. Many of you know Sofia is a HUGE horse fan. So look around and you will see not much else out here but horses. Breyer Horses, American Girl Horses, small horses, big horses, barns, trucks with trailers, talking horses. You name it we got it!
The big barn was an awesome find in Las Vegas of all places! There was a toy store between the Luxor and Mandalay Bay and all toys were 50% off so Santa had to scoop this up! They even shipped it to us which was awesome! I rearrange this room a lot. All of her dolls stay in her room along with books. In this room, the white shelf holding the horses was a great Goodwill find as well as the wooden table you can see in the other picture. It was my $3.99 Pottery Barn Kids table find at the Goodwill! The table costs $150! I like to use baskets for all her toys, well because I like baskets and they are just easy to move around.
I just noticed the green tassel hanging from the horses ear after I posted this! Pretty sure on this day Butterscotch was dressed up for a parade!
Those big guys in the middle are Butterscotch and Smores. Thanks for touring the stable! Make sure you head over to Kelly’s to check out all the great rooms!

Summer Project
I decided to start a project today! Now let me be honest. I love to buy things with the intent to make them great. Sometimes I do and well…sometimes I don’t! I bought this ugly item back last December at my Goodwill for 50% off of the price tag on the bed so yep, $4.99 was my price. Nice. It is very heavy and I just loved the high headboard. I am not sure of the age of it but it is very heavy and solid. It did not have the bed rails with it, so I will have to “rig” it up to the bed frame. I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it! Currently it is painted a very ugly and very bright yellow. I am not sure what I will do with it when I am finished.
I started stripping it today and made a good bit of progress. I ran out of stripper though and I let it dry too long the first time around so I really did not get off as much as I would have liked to. Next weekend I will add another coat of stripper.
The headboard (backside of it) and the footboard. I think the curved accent are very feminine and will look very girly when finished.
$9.99 was a bargain but hey, 50% off is even better!!
The front of the headboard and the front of the footboard.
Paint Stripper doing the work
What do you think? Should I paint it white so that it it will match pretty much anything in Sofia’s room or stain it back to the original condition. I think I might be leaning towards staining it but then I also think painting it and then maybe adding a monogram to the headboard might also be nice. Let me know what you think – paint or stain. If I paint it, what color?

Because they are too great to wait until Monday’s Thrifty Treasures
It is that time again! Time to share all your wonderful yard sale and thrift store finds! Make sure you head over to see Rhoda at Southern Hospitality to join in the party!
I stopped at 3 yard sales Friday morning – all right beside each other and I spent $19 on some really great things! Here is what I got:
Beautiful (LIKE NEW) Pottery Barn Kids twin size quilt, sham and decorative flower-shaped pillow - $5.00. I will use this to swap out Sofia’s bedding in the Spring. This was still in the PBK package!
Set of 4 Melamine plates and matching cups 2 w/ lemons, 2 w/ limes - $2.00
Pink wooden frame with metal bunny and carrot - $1.00
2 large metal standing vases / containers - $2.00 for both
large collage-type frame with mat (this color frames matches all in my bedroom / bathroom - $3.00
2 huge baskets, very sturdy $5.00 for both
and you can’t tell very well in the picture but a got Sofia an unopened jar full of those fizzing bath ice cream things - .50
and not pictured 2 Spanish dictionaries that I gave to a friend at work - .50
I would say not bad! The price of the picture frame was $25.99 originally!
Saturday I went to several sales, but not very much luck. Almost everything I bought came from 2 of the same sales I went to yesterday. They had put out more stuff and I am glad that I stopped! I spent $13.75 today and got:
Set of 3 tall metal outdoors candle holders - $4
Pewter or metal bunny and carrot tray - $4 for both
3 black 5 x 7 frames - .75
Set of 6 white napkins with bluebirds - $1
2 large material remnants - $2
New unopened package of pineapple soaps from Hallmark - $1
Baby Lulu dress and shoes - $1 (these I will give to a friend at work)
Strangest item I saw for sale this weekend:
Hope ya’ll are having a great weekend!

Flashback Friday
Well I just had a Flashback post yesterday, so ya’ll are probably tired of that but what can I say, not much happening around here.
Unless of course, you like reading about my scorpion hunting. Picture this: me outside in my pjs and pink crocs with bug spray, blue light flashlight and a small frying pan. Yes that is what I did for a while last night. I killed 3 HUGE scorpions in my backyard last night. They are so ugly and scary and I just hate them! So I will be doing this most every night for a while. YUCK!
Of course, before that my evening was very exciting as I fixed my dishwasher! It was not draining so I had to take it apart a little bit and clean it out and then put it back together. Exciting right?
Then just to add a little more fun to the evening I decided to flip and rotate my king-size pillow top mattress. Well, I managed to do it but not without breaking a glass knic knac from my dresser.
I also did 3 loads on laundry, took out the trash and gave myself a mini-pedicure before my fancy pedicure and manicure here tomorrow with a few of my friends from work. We are using our prize money we won at our awards banquet in April. So my feet need lots of help so I had to fix them up a little bit before letting the ladies at the spa fix them!!!
Now without further delay…my Flashback Friday!
Well clearly this is not my Sofia. I decided since I posted a flashback of Fia yesterday, I would flashback to someone else today. No, this isn’t just a random child! This sweet baby is my wonderful friend Elizabeth’s son, Reid. This picture was taken in 2000 at my parent’s house while I was babysitting Reid for Elizabeth. He was just so darn cute and I was loving a new camera and loving all those flowers on our farm. So there you go!
Have a great weekend everyone!!

I am exhausted
Today was such a long day! We had our “Open House” event at my new office building and well, you all know me, I love to be on committees and help plan events so I was there all day working to get things ready. We had a great time and a great turn out. I was really surprised by how many people brought their family members or friends to see the new building. In case you all want to know who I work for, you can check us out here: www.healthways.com. But the company has lots of programs that I don’t work for. So more specifically, have you ever heard of SilverSneakers? Check it out here: www.silversneakers.com. Chances are if you have not heard of it, your parents or grandparents might have. It is the leading exercise program for seniors offered by many insurance companies to their Medicare members. It is an amazing program that can and does change the life of seniors every day! Alright,I will stop talking about work now!
Seeing all those kids made me miss my sweetheart tonight and I was happy to hear her voice on the phone this evening. She is having a great time in Laughlin and Las Vegas this week with her grandparents. But since I was missing her and since well, this is my blog I thought I would have a special edition on Flashback Wednesday. So enjoy (or don’t) the pictures! Hey the work week is more than half way over!
This last picture is my favorite of ALL TIME of Sofia and I together. She is about 6 months old and we were visitng my wonderful friend Elizabeth and she is such a great photographer that I asked her to take pictures of Sofia and of us together. This picture still hands and will always hand on my wall in my house. I also have an oil painting made of Sofia from another picture she took at the same time. Make sure you go check out her blog so that she will start posting more!
