Our New House - Part 2 -Just Pics

My bedroom - ignore the workout tubes you see sticking out from under the bed!!

My desk in my room. I have never had my computer in my room but I sort of like it because I can watch tv and movies on it with hulu, etc. Now I will just have to keep my desk clean!
Part of my bathroom. This is an old sewing maching table, that I was able to put a shelf inside for storage. It works out good in this space.

Bathroom--notice the Celia Rivenbark - "Bless Your Heart, Tramp" book!!

The Guest Bed Room upstairs. Sofia's bathroom (that she never uses because she perfers mine) will also be the Guest Bathroom. My guest will have a gorgeous view of the mountains!

Another shot of the Guest Bedroom. Still need to determine drapes in this room.

The Playroom - better known as the "Stable".

Playroom again.

Looking at the Family room from the Kitchen. I have not put up my drapes yet, these were here. Notice the "free" tv cabinet I talked about here.

I will use it in the family room until I can find something I like better.

Our New House - Part 1

It seems like it was just yesterday that I was posting pics of our new house--well it has been a year. We jsut finished moving and I hope it will be the last for a while. I am renting from a friend and we are about 2 miles from Sofias's elementary school she will attend this fall and still very close to the YMCA and my work. We only moved about 4 miles from our old house.

So anyway, here is a tour of the house (except Sofia's room because her bedding is getting washed as we speak). We are really happy here. I had to get rid of a lot of stuff though, as we went down about 500 square feet. It is very similar to the other house with the furnishings, etc.

Family room and dining area - looking down from the stairs. I went with the denim furntiure that used to be in my playroom in the family room this time - because I was tired of the leather couch.

Another view of the family room. I am now in search of an area rug for this room.

Kitchen - the smallest I have ever had and it is certainly taking some getting used to! Note all the roosters made it to this house as well!

Downstairs powder room and I still need to hang one of these pictures.

Dining area.

s'more fun

Tonight it was such a beautiful cool night outside (those will soon be gone here in AZ) that Sofia and I decided to have a fire on the patio and have s'mores! They were yummy!

Oh the weather outside is frightful....

wait, no here it is delightful! The best time of the year in Arizona--still cool nights and mornings and nice warm days. Sofia and I took to the mountain today for a little hiking. We took Nugget along too. We are about 1/2 mile from tte trailhead so I walked and Sofia rode her bike there. Then we hiked for about an hour. We were doing good until on the way back, Sofia was running and fell and skinned her knee and both elbows. A few tears were shed and luckily a lady was hiking and gave Sofia some bandaids--you all know how bandaids solve lots of problems. So anyway, no real damage done and we made it back. She was tired afterwards though.

Beautiful day in AZ with mid 70's temperatures.

The Lion King

I surprised Sofia tonight and took her to see The Lion King Broadway production at ASU Gammage and I have just one word: AMAZING!

She loved it! I loved it! I will certainly plan to see it each year when it returns! Of course even better was the fact we sat 3rd row center!

The sets and the music are so wonderful. If you ever have the chance to see this, I would say GO!! The looks on Sofia's face were way more special than anything I got from her at Disney World!

Check here to see if the show is coming to a town near you!

It has been a while...

Well, I don't even know where January has gone! I have been missing in action lately because I have been busy moving. I am happy to report that I am finished and will have my internet reconnected today (I hope)!

Tomorrow is my mom's birthday--Mom, I love you VERY much, Happy Birthday!!!!

Sunday I will be rooting for the Cardinals to win the Super Bowl -- though I really am not a fan of the NFL or really any professional sports.

I am also pretty sure I am addicted to Facebook and Skype!

Oh and yesterday as a nice Welcome to your New Home gift, I found this in the garage:
It ran out from under a box that I moved so I quickly grabbed the nearest spray I could (Scrubbin Bubbles) and soaked it down then I smashed it to pieces. It was easily 3 inches long! Ugh I hate pests!!!!

PF Changs Rock n Roll 1/2 Marathon

So today I ran the 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles) here in PhoeniX and it was a great day. Beautiful weather and I made it through ok. My finish time was 2:30 and that was my goal. It is a far cry from how fast I used to be able to run, but it was my first time doing a 1/2 in about 8 years. Below is a picture of my friend Stepanie and I before the start.

These are a few of my favorite "C" things.....

Laura was kind enough to let me play along with this letter game, so I am challenged to name 10 of my favorite things that begin with "C" in the order that they come to me:

Coke well technically diet COKE so really I am cheating here! Just one a day, in a can, from the can and very cold!

Crayons and Coloring...one of my favorite things to do with Sofia, love the smell, love to make a dark outline by pushing down hard with the crayon and then filling in with the same color only lighter.

well......the Crimson Tide!!! My newly found state pride and love of the home team!!!

Crafts...scrapbooking, decorating, painting, sewing, love them!

Costumes--love them for Halloween, love them for any theme party, I love theme parties with costumes!

Caroline Jenkins--my dear friend E's daughter who is so super sweet to Sofia when we visit and is such a beautiful young lady!!!

Country living - no not the magazine--but how I wish I lived -- in the middle of no where with no neighbor for 50 miles!

Cowboys - I mean real hard working, Wrangler wearing, hat wearing, boot wearing COWBOYS and yes the would live with me in the Country!

Couch - where I can lay and watch tons of Reality Shows! Couch is very important because I can put pretty pillows on it and set the tone of a room but mostly lay on it and watch TV!

Chinese Food - LOVE it! Pei Wei, PF Changs, Panda Express, now some of those really might be Japanese, but I call it Chinese!

What Fun! Anyone else want a challenge? Just let me know and I will send you your challenge letter! Thanks Laura for letting me play!

Ready to go to the beach?

Well, I know I am and it is not even that cold in AZ! Check out this condo here for a beautiful spot in Orange Beach / Gulf Shores. We stayed here last year and it is a wonderful place and perfect if you are going with a large group or just the family. The view and location are ideal!
****Also just realized this is my 200th post!!

I was tagged

My good friend Laura tagged me today and I thought it was a fun tag! I have not had lots to post about lately so here goes.

Herea are the Rules:
*Grab the nearest book.
*Open the book to page 56.
*Find the FIFTH sentence.
*Post the text of the next two to five sentences in your blog along with these instructions.
*Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one; pick the CLOSEST.
*Tag five other people to do the same

So this is the only book in arms reach of my computer:

"May 1st is celebrated , as throughout much of Europe, as Labor Day. This is when workers are honored by parades of trade unions accompanied by bands and banners."

So, what book am I reading? A Quick Guide to Customs & Etiquette: Norway

I know, very exciting!!

I tag:
Elizabeth
Ashley
and well....let me see who else...

Finally, Happy New Year

Wow, 2009 already. Last night I went with several friends to a 1940's party at the classic Hotel San Carlos and it was so much fun! Of course, anyone who knows me KNOWS that I love a costume or theme party so tracking down the outfit was 1/2 the fun. Thank you to the Goodwill, Target and a local Antiques store.
