Well, today is the last first day of preschool. Sofia slept in pretty late this morning--well for her that is, 6:30. I got her dressed (much to her surprise it was not a dress). She wore a cute little Ragsland Capri set and pink bow of course. We got to school and she declared that naps were too long at this school! Whatever that means. She saw one of her teachers in the parkingl ot and of course the teacher spoke to her (as did her daughter) and Sofia hid behind me. So not off to such a great start. We got inside and found her cubby, took pictures of her on her first day and then the tears started. I am so over the tears at school. I mean I feel sad, because it truly is because she loves to be where I am but I mean now come on, it is the same school, room and teachers. So anyhow, I called later to check on her and the tears of course stopped as soon as I left. She is in the older classroom this year (YEAH!) so no more being the oldest with the youngest. Her teacher is Ms. Becky (who I have not met yet). She took her lunch today and will for the rest of this week since she will only be there Mon-Wed of this week--we leave for Las Vegas on Thursday. So all in all I hope the tears will end soon and things should be great! I have pictures below of her from her first morning!

Fall Activites
With it so hot out, it is very difficult to think about what Fall activities Sofia wants to participate in this year. Right now she has a pre-k etiquette class on one Saturday, a cheerleading clinic on one Saturday (she will then get to perform at a high-school football game) and she wants to do soccer and she says ballet and tap. Wow. Luckily the first two are only one Saturday each.
The first day of school is tomorrow and I am sad because this will be Sofia's last year of preschool. But then I think about the $7K+ I have spent each year since 2004 and I am sort of like....BRING ON THE FREE SCHOOL!! Next year I will finally be free of the huge expense of preschool. Of course, I will still have to pay for afterschool care, but I can handle the $150-200 per month as opposed to $600+.
I let Sofia pick all of her own clothes out last week when she was at the home daycare so that she would feel in charge before the school year starts. I have already had to prepare her for the return of smocked dresses, bows and nice sandals--no more flip flops!! She really wasn't very excited. So I decided on the first day to ease her into it with a nice little capri outfit. Oh, and a big bow of course! I will post pictures tomorrow of the first day.

Handy Manny wanna be

Sofia decided to "fix" somethings in my room the other night. It required a lot of tools. She often wants to use a hammer on things, walls, windows, etc. She says it is just so she can hear the noise it makes. Well, the noise she would not want to hear is my loud voice yelling about a hold caused by a hammer so I suggested she stick to her toolbox and not mine.
**Please note the safety goggles are in place just as Handy Manny would do (Sofia informed me of this)**
Halloween Costume in the making

So last year when I visited my dear friend Elizabeth at her beautiful home (you know she will probably read this!!) I helped her clean and organize her upstairs closets--I know but I think it might have even been my idea--I love that stuff--she gave me this dress because we both instantly thought...Mermaid. So lately, well really since last year, Sofia has been asking to wear the mermaid dress, try on the mermaid dress, make it a mermaid costume--nearly every time she is in my closet, so this is the year to make it happen---somehow. Below are some snapshots of her trying it out.
So how do I make this a mermaid???
To respond to Elizabeth's comments (how dare you!!!) we were in the middle of cleaning out my master bedroom closet so there miss smarty britches--that is why the room is not organized!!!
Summer continues....UGH
