So much Disney FUN!

This will be the first of I'm sure many Disney posts! I'll try not to bore you too much!

First I wanted to say THANK YOU to Sofia's Pica and Stona (grandparents)for sending us (me, Sofia and R) to Disneyland this past week! We had a great time and Sofia really did!

We drove out on Thrusday after R arrived from Texas. It is about a 5 1/2 - 6 hour drive from Phoenix to Anaheim. Of course, when you stop for potty breaks and the Outlets Malls the drive turns into 8 hours!! You know I can't pass up Gymboree and J Crew in one spot!

Anywho, we stayed outside of the park at the Red Lion hotel which was 2 blocks from Disney and very nice. It is located right beside an IHop! Even better! We ate breakfast there on Friday morning and got the day started with a full stomach - very important for Sofia since this is her best meal of the day.

We spent Friday at Disney until after the parade then we went to dinner at Bubba Gumps, back to the hotel for a nap and shower and then back to Disney for the fireworks. It was a great day! he crowds started to get heavier as the day wore on though. The parade was awesome! Almost all of the characters came up to Sofia and gave her high-5's or hugs! She was loving it!

Saturday, we started at Disney to see Tinkerbell and Pixie Hollow then we went to California Adventures to get ready for lunch with Ariel at the Grotto and enjoy the rides. The crowds were much smaller at this park and we were able to ride a lot of rides.

Lunch with Ariel (and the princesses) was AWESOME! Sofia had a great time and the 3 course meal was delicious! I say this is a must do! By about 4pm on Saturday we were all exhausted and headed out to stroll through downtown Disney, had dinner at the ESPN Zone and then back to the hotel to relax and start to pack up a bit for our trip home. Sofia and I swam in the pool for about an hour while R napped and that was a lot of fun!

Only bad part about the trip - the sun did not shine AT ALL! Oh well, at least it wasn't 100+ degrees! I sure was glad I brought jackets for us!

So without further delay...here come the pics!

I love my "Staycation"

I have been off for a few days, since Sofia is out of school. She leaves next week for TX so we are enjoying some quality time together. Today we played a little Hi Ho Cherry-O (funny how she seems to win every game?), then we did a little bit of painting outside (see below) followed up by a trip to the library for preschooler story time. She really enjoyed that because she saw a friend from school there. Aside from all that fun, I have been cleaning like crazy! Throwing out stuff, organizing, filing, all that yucky stuff! Cleaned the garage out too! Of course, I am also enjoying some prime daytime television!

Not that I am counting but...

Sofia wore all of the following today:

  • 5 pairs of underwear (not sure why but that is how many I picked up from various locations around the house)
  • 3 different dance outfits
  • 3 actual outfits consisting of shorts and tank tops
  • 1 pair of socks
  • 4! pairs of pajamas -- let me break this one down - she got up at 6am, had on jammie shorts, left my room and came back wearing ice cream night gown. We went for a hike after breakfast, she came in, took off her clothes and put on shorts/ shirt jammies with horses on them. she then wanted to take a shower so after that, nightgown with horses all over it, then after dinner she rode her bike, came home and put on Princess pants / shirt jammies.

Now somwhere in there she also took a bath today. I put lotion on her 3 times and brushed / created a pony tail 4 times. Whew, I am exhausted!

Yes, this post is random but I just thought I would share.

Sofia's in the shower with Shaggy and Narnia

Sofia loves taking a shower. She would take 3-4 per day if I would let her. You should see all the toys she takes in there with her. So today she was singing up a storm and playing Narnia. I decided to record her! She is singing 'Beautiful Girl" by Shaggy and then acting out some scene from Narnia. The shower was full of horses, lions, etc. I was sitting at my desk playing solitaire trying not to laugh too loud!

Outdoors Fun (lots of pics)

On Friday it was little cloudy and cool here in AZ so I decided Sofia and I would take advantage of the opportunity and do something outdoors. We packed a picnic lunch, our cameras and umbrella (just in case) and headed out to Saguaro Lake and the Salt River. We hiked, played in the very cold water and enjoyed a picnic outside. It was a great day. The rain held off and it started to warm up a bit. The Salt River is famous for everyone rafting down in in tubes and drinking lots of beer while doing so! It was a bit cool for most people, but as the day warmed up, the tubers started showing up. Sofia said he looked like a lot of fun and she would like to do it as well. I'm not sure she would make it in a tube for 2.5 hours!

I hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend. I have all of next week off, so I am very happy about that!
I love to watch Food Network and have been trying to cook more. I have decided I really like Sandra Lee's new show about cooking for less $. This morning she made yummy sweet potatoe fries that I think I will make with our lunch today. I feel inspired while watching these shows, of course, I can't get too fancy with my cooking or Sofia will surely starve!
