Thrift finds for this week

Well, you know I was gone for 5 days without the thrift store, so of course I have been twice this week! I am working on a few projects for my downstairs guest bedroom and I am on the hunt! Here is what I have found this week:

  • awesome green ceramic over metal drink dispenser with lid - $4.99

  • clear dishes (15) to match or use with punch bowl for the shower I am hosting - $9.00

  • 7 cups and 9 saucers for Sofia's tea party - .69 - .99 each piece

  • more lovely cream ware platters and mugs - .69-1.99 each piece

  • large ride on stuffed horse for Sofia - $4.99

  • 4 plate pads with English Fox Hunting Scenes - 1.99 for 4 (these will hang on my den wall)

  • bag of 10 baby toys for our baby - Buttons - 1.49

  • couple of other nic nacs - .99 - 1.99

  • Red pillows for formal chairs in living room - 2.99 each

  • 2 small gold frame pics - .99 each (I need the frames for my downstairs bath - I am replacing the pics with statue pics I took in Vegas)

  • plastic serving tray with Currier and Ives New England Summer print on it - 2.99

  • small bird statue - 1.99 (boutique tag on bottom for $58)

  • punch glass to add to collection - .69

  • glass tea canister - .99

Now, if you are thinking to yourself, gee she shops a lot, where does all that go? Is she a pack rat? The answer is, I am constantly recycling at my house--the interiors that is. Right now in my garage I have a HUGE pile to take to the Goodwill. Then I just by other things and try them out! Hey, its for a good cause, right? I also do some selling of these items on eBay and at a consignment shop so some of it is for resale. I'm actually doing really good not being a pack rat. I will admit to being that before, but not this time. The new house is just not big enough for that!

Build A Bear Las Vegas...Take 15

Yes, that's right, 15 Build A Bears all from Las Vegas over the years! Good heavens that is a lot of money. I mean if you can leave there spending $40 you are lucky! No animal can leave there without at least one outfit and usually 2 (one pajamas) and don't forget the shoes and the panties! It is a lot of fun though, and she always looks forward to it. Lately the animals have been having tea parties in the playroom. That is a rather large tea party! On this visit we left with Dotty the Dog a bargain at $40.85!

Ceasar's Palace Las Vegas

On our last night, Sofia, R and I went to the shops at Ceasar's palace and to dinner. Great time to get dressed up and enjoy Vegas! Sofia of course love FAO Schwartz and came away with a stuffed kitty but was very upset I would not buy her a very expensive stuffed cheetah. Oh well, like I always say, You get what you get and you don't throw a fit!!!

M & M Factory

So of course you have to go to the M & M Factory while you are in Las Vegas. I mean what better way to spend $10 than on a bag of M & M's! Sofia likes to go and pick all her favorite colors!

The Mirage Las Vegas

So the 1st pics from our Vegas Trip are the dolphins and tigers from the Mirage. Sofia really liked the white tigers. They have 5 babies right now and 3 are on display. They were so cute!

This bath went downhill fast

So apparently goggles are now required during bathtime at our house. Well, she has been swimming a lot. But anyway, I have included pics of how a nice relaxing bath goes downfill fast when the goggles are tight enough and she rinsed the shampoo and the water and soap got in her eyes. Hey, I thought that stuff was tear-free?

Sofia Enjoying Texas

So when Sofia visits her grandparents in TX, she lives by her own set of rules and loves every minute of it. She loves to "work" in the store and Rome took a few pictues of her "helping". This was in June. Please note the difference in hair and clothing--a bit different from her usual!

My sweet girl

As the photos from the past sharing continues: Valentines Day 2004, age 3 months and Valentines Day 2008, age 4 years. I used this picture to make her Valentines Day cards for school. They had a heart-shaped sucker attached and were just so darn cute!

Where does the time go?

I was inspired by another fabulous blogger this week and decided to go back and look thru the pics of Sofia and share some of my favorites. Afterall, with her nearly five I often ask myself, where does the time go?

This picture was on her 1st 4th of July so she was 8 months old and with it being Arizona, so hot. We went to a BBQ and pool party. Look at those red cheeks!

2008 Summer Portraits

I took these portraits back in May/June while visiting my family in Alabama and never posted them so I thought I would share now. I have long preferred the pictures either I took or that my dear friend Elizabeth has taken of Sofia to those from portrait studios. I will give props to Eliz because she really is great with the camera and I had to stand-in for her this Summer, since we did not make it to Georgia! I took these at the Old State Bank in Decatur, Alabama. Plenty of hydrangea, it was a little cloudy, great setting overall.

Viva Las Vegas

So we are off to Las Vegas today. We are driving since it is not too bad of a drive (5 hours). We will be there until Monday. The plan is to swim, shop, eat and repeat! We always go to the outlets there and I make a beeline to where??? Why Strasburg Children of course! It is my one opportunity in the Western United States to stock up on clothing for my child. So I am practicing my credit card swipe right now! I will have plenty of pictures to share when we get back. Of course I had already packed my luggage but then made a small stop yesterday at Kohl's and Ross and pretty much got a whole new vacation wardrobe! So have a great weekend everyone and I will post pics on Monday!

So we just popped back into the Goodwill on Sunday. We dropped some things off and well we might as well go in, right? Nothing extra special. Below is what I found:

  • large punch bowl with 7 cups, $4.50 (I will add mismatched cups to this as I find them)
  • 2 Blue Ridge plates in mint condition, $1.99
  • 4 large ceramic white ware very ornate mugs, .99
  • S & P shakers, stoneware, .99
  • mixed bag of goodies for Sofia, .99
  • galvanized bucket to save for Sofia's birthday party decor, .99
  • cowboy hat for party decor, .99

I believe that was it. Nothing too grand. No pictures.
