Weekend in Review - Nebraska

This weekend was super fast and super fun! Honey and I left on Friday for Nebraska to visit his high school hometown and to go to the Nebraska football game on Saturday. We had a great time!

We headed out Friday morning around 10 and the plane was packed with Huskers fans! Very high energy! It was beautiful weather when we arrived and it was so nice to get in and out of the airport quickly!

Rocking one of my new scarves as I wait at the airport! Gotta love the scarf options at Ross!

Our first stop - Runza! Honey often talks about these sandwiches. I didn't know what it was really, but it did NOT disappoint! Loved it! I had 2 more over the weekend!

We left Omaha and drove over to Bellevue, where my Honey went to high school. We saw lots of deer in front yards and it was nice to see where he grew up. We went by his old high school and visited his parent's resting place (an emotional stop, but one I felt honored to be a part of).

After touring Bellevue, we headed over to the Old Market in Omaha and bar-hopped for a while. We started out at Nosh. Great Moscato, but stay away from the duck tacos.
After a few more stops, it was time for diner we somehow ended up at Plank. I mean who goes to Omaha for seafood - but it DID NOT disappoint! We sat at the oyster bar and they were so good, so fresh! YUMMY! Also, the Bloody Mary was SO good. Very smoky.  A must try! Honey had the mojito and it was very tasty too!

Saturday morning bright and early we went for breakfast at another one of Honey's local favorites, the Garden Cafe. We each had the New Hampton Casserole - grilled chicken, potatoes, onions, cheese and hollandaise sause!

After breakfast we headed down to Lincoln and went to check in at The Corn Husker. Here I am waiting..wearing another new scarf! $7.99 from Ross! Oh and ignore how badly my roots need attention.

After the hotel was taken care of, it was time to tour around the campus! It was so nice to skip the jacket and just have a light sweater on over my Husker t-shirt. I shed the sweater pretty quickly too. We went to the bookstores, Honey's frat house (which is now oddly enough a sorority house) and then it was time to get our pre-game celebrations started!

First stop - Sandy's, home of the Elk Creek Water (see below :))

Then we went to Duffy's, but it was sad and empty. So we headed down to Haymarket and ended up on the rooftop at Barry's! This joint was the place to be!!

Rooftop (4 Bloody Mary's later) at Barry's in a sea of red!

After our fun at Barry's, it was time to head over to the stadium! I was so excited! My first time as a Husker and my first college game in a while! Great seats, great weather and a really great atmosphere!

Game time selfie - not sure the dude behind me is happy about it....

The red balloons were flying after the first score!
Sadly, the Huskers lost, but the weekend was amazing!! Until next time, GO BIG RED!!

iPhone Dump and Ready for the Weekend!

Today is my Friday at work!! Woo Hoo - we are headed to Nebraska tomorrow.  I'm excited to go and visit where Honey lived and of course ready to cheer "Go Big Red" (of course I'll be saying "Roll Tide Roll" on the inside!

Coming from Phoenix and 80/90 degree weather meant I needed to search deep in the closet for cold weather gear. I came up pretty empty-handed. So that meant I needed to stop by Ross. I love Ross. I really do. It almost never lets me down. Example: wanted camo skinny  jeans - found em at Ross for $15.99. Wanted new higher heel black knee boots - found great leather BCBG option at Ross for $69. See - Ross RULES!  Now of course sometimes it has nothing. But rarely. I scored a sweater, jeans and a couple of scarves for the trip. As well as another pair of brown knee boots with a wedge heel.

So for the game I'm wearing skinny jeans, the wedge knee boots, a white button up (or denim) under a red crew neck sweater and a pretty scarf. I'll probably also have to take my thick jacket too, just in case. This outfit will be perfect for the game and bar-hopping afterwards. Pics to come for sure!

OK, let's dump some photos from the iPhone.

Weather for this weekend. What?

I sent this text to Honey this am for him to see when he woke up.
How I started my day to today (and Thursday) Orange Theory Fitness kicks butt!
I skipped my morning workout on Wednesday. I had guilt.  Major guilt.
I took 1/2 of the German Chocolate bundt cake to work. It last 2 seconds.
 These just made me laugh.

19 months and counting of my nail polish of choice: OPI Lincoln Park After Dark
That my lunches look like. Carbs are the enemy.
Kinda true. I just can't get into Christmas decor before Thanksgiving. Ain't gonna happen.
My personal cardio workout this week. After the stairs I do 20 mountain climbers and 10 push ups - before I go to the treadmill for the second half. Do this 3 times and you will be BEAT!
 THIS back porch. Yes Please.

Soccer Saturdays

Soccer continues on Saturdays for Sofia. While her team isn't winning very much, she has had 2 goals this year! She loves it when she scores (so do I)!!

I love this picture! This past weekend they played the team Sofia played on last year. This is her friend Riley, holding her back from the ball! So funny!!
Not a bad view from the soccer field!

Weekend Recap

Sami's Shenanigans

We had a wonderful and busy weekend! Honey's birthday is today so we kicked off all the celebrations this past Friday night!

Friday night, I took Honey out (my treat) to the very famous Pizzeria Bianco in Phoenix. We were prepared to wait as you usually have about a 2 hour wait to get in, but surprise, surprise we were in and dining on yummy thin crust, crispy pizza within 30 minutes! We shared a salad, app and a couple of pizzas (so we would have some to bring home). All of that and a couple of glasses of wine and I was very happy I had gotten up at 4:45 to workout that morning!

After pizza, the Birthday Boy needed dessert! We headed over to Churn and shared the "Fat Elvis" - peanut butter and salted caramel ice cream, banana slices, whip cream and chocolate rocks. It was very tasty!

Saturday we both went to work out, then Sofia had soccer at 2pm and then we got ready for our surprise date night out. Honey planned his own surprise. What a terrible girlfriend I am! I was kinda bummed I didn't think of it! We went to see the Capitals and Coyotes play hockey. Honey is a huge Caps fans (since he worked in DC). It was a ton of fun and of course we had fabulous seats!

Yesterday Honey and I got up early and packed up for a 12 mile hike! We are hiking at the Grand Canyon in 2 weeks: South Rim down to the Colorado River and back up in one day (that's 20 miles)!! So we have been training very hard to be as prepared as possible.

After our hike, we enjoyed some Pho before heading home to veg on the couch for a while.

We we got home, I made Honey a German Chocolate cake to celebrate his special day. It turned out pretty good. I use this recipe and modified for a bundt cake.

I haven't even had a chance to watch the Bama game yet! Roll Tide Roll!

Oh and just because he is so silly, this is the man I love! He's picking on Sofia because she has chapped lips and will not keep chapstick on!

Hope everyone had a great weekend, I know I sure did!

Meal Plan Monday - November

It's time for another Meal Plan Monday post! If you've visited before, you know I meal plan a month in advance. This helps me with time saving and budget following. You also know Pinterest is my best friend. So without delay, this is November!

As you can see by the colored sections, I do get a few nights "off" this month for celebrations and such.

All of my recipes can be found on my Pinterest Board, November Meal Plan.   I don't repeat very often. I like trying new stuff at our house. I think this month there are 2 repeats.

After I try a new recipes, I'll come back here and recap the previous week's hit or misses.

Also, I do all my grocery shopping at Walmart - except meat. I do not buy meat from Walmart. I've been disappointed with the quality every time I've tried. So typically I buy meat from Fry's (Kroger) or Costco.

Each week I try to follow this pattern: 1 ground beef, 1 steak or other beef, 2 chickens and maybe a fish. I like to try to work 1 night of leftovers into the week as well. However, it doesn't always happen because my Honey does a great job of eating leftovers for lunch when he is in town.

Up first this week:
