A MOOin Good Time

Did you know that a cow does not become a "cow" until she is at least 2 years old and has had a baby? Before that she is a heifer. So a cow does not produce milk until she is 2. But then from that point on, look out she has a lot of work to do.

Today after the soccer game, Sofia and I went to the Shamrock Dairy Farm in Stanfield, AZ. Many of you on the east coast and down south have probably not ever heard of Shamrock, but they are really big out here and they have been around since 1922. What is awesome about their product is the milk (and all of their stuff) has a really long expiration date. Like a gallon of milk is usually at least 3 weeks out. Love that! Anyway we got to go on a tour and see the cows get milked, baby cows and the cows in their barn. They have 10,000 cows on this dairy farm and they each get milked twice per day. They milk 200 cows at a time. It was really neat to see!

Oh and of couse one of the best parts....ice cream at the end of the tour!!

How NEAT was that!! Where and how do you find the neatest stuff to do?

Thanks for the cow trivia, too!
