Tuesday Rambling and I'm hyped on adrenaline...

This is just a lot of random thoughts.

First off, my day started bright and early at 4am today! I woke up on my own even though my clock was set for 4:25.

Why so early you ask? Well, my Honey purchased a membership for me at Orange Theory. Ever heard of it? Basically it is interval training using a treadmill, rower, weights, TRX and your own body. You also wear a heart rate monitor the entire time. The goal is to achieve 12-20 minutes in the orange and red zone and the rest in green. I've got a bit of work to do.   It is an amazing workout. Very intense, kinda competitive (or maybe that's just me) and really a great way to start the day! I'm going to be going here every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 5am.

So 467 calories burned and about 27 minutes in Orange/Red. So I have to recover a little better.

Of course leaving my house at 4:40 was fun. Actually it's only about 10 minutes earlier than I normally leave to go to my local gym. After leaving OT, I headed to work to shower and get ready for my day. By then I was starving! I'm tracking all my food and workouts these days using Fitness Pal. Do you track using Fitness Pal or any app? I need to be held accountable.

This is what my day in Fitness Pal looks like:

Anyway, I made my breakfast at work (Greek yogurt, banana and raspberries) and then set about tracking all my food for the day to see where I would end up. In the past I have not eaten enough while dieting (I know, this sounds strange) and the result has been my body has gone into starvation mode. Which meant all the hard work I was doing really was not paying off. So I am trying to go about this differently this time. Tracking my food and calories, but making sure I eat enough to fuel my body, not going below a net calorie amount of 1200.

So technically I need to eat more calories today still and if I do more cardio I'll even need to eat a few more. It's hard to think about needing to eat more to lose weight. I have about 20-25 I want to lose.

In other news, if you've read my blog for a while, you might remember Sofia will not eat fruits and veggies. Well, without force that it. It's a head game with her. We give them to her with dinner, sometimes she suffers thru and other times she leaves them with the understanding that there are no snacks or desserts unless veggies are eaten.

Well, I was really happy when she began to fairly easily consume brussel sprout leaves - when cooked with bacon! But now, I may have found the first every vegetable that Sofia will eat happily!!

Roasted broccoli!! Who knew?? Thank goodness for Pinterest! Last night she actually asked for a piece to munch on while our chicken was still cooking. We have a winner! Here is the pin.

It's so easy! Put broccoli in a bag, add a little EVOO, salt and pepper then put on baking sheet at roast for 20-25 minutes. We actually roast ours 25-30 so it gets more "done." Sofia prefers for it to get a little brown. It is very tasty. I'm thinking it would also be good with a dusting of Parmesan cheese too. Give it a try and tell me what you think!

I nearly tried pin a few weeks ago but we didn't eat what I had planned that night for some reason or other. So glad it's a good one!!

You go on with your 4AM wake up calls!! I'll still be snoozing away!
